Tessa Dahnert
This season (2024-2025) Tessa Dahnert is the assistant coach for Roots Volleyball’s third 16’s team- 16-3 Maple.
Tessa’s 2023-2024 team (16-1 Green) secured a strong top 20 finish at USAV Girls’ Junior Nationals (American division). 16 Green secured two top 10 qualifier finishes (Mideast National Qualifier – 5th place and Lone Star Classic National Qualifier – 8th place, before securing their JO bid at Lone Star Regionals (4th place).
Tessa grew up in Cedar Park. She played her first year of club volleyball (14s season) for Roots Volleyball/Texas Eclipse, which helped advance her to her school varsity team. Tessa 15s season she join another local club where she led her team to a silver medal at USAV Girls’ Junior Nationals during her 16s season and a gold medal during her 18s season. Additionally, during Tessa’s senior season she led her high school team to the Texas 4A State tournament for the first time in school history.
Following graduation, Tessa continued her volleyball career at the University of Texas at San Antonio where she graduated with a biology degree in the pre-dental program. UTSA won the Conference USA regular season two years in a row and won the Conference USA tournament during Tessa’s freshman season making it the NCAA tournament. She eventually plans to further her education to become an orthodontist.
After her college graduation, Tessa decided to continue her volleyball career professionally and play abroad. She played one season in Germany for Volleyball Club Offenburg located in Offenburg, Germany. During her time there she helped her team go undefeated and win the 2 Bundesliga Meisterschaft.
Tessa coached for UTSA during her college season summers and was an assistant coach for a single season (14s team) in the San Antonio-area.
Tessa currently resides in Leander with her dog, Binx. This will be Tessa’s 2nd season with the Roots Volleyball family.
