Roots Summer programs offer something for everyone! Athletes should sign up for programs based on their grade for the 2022-23 school year. Email Robyn Taliaferro at rob@rootsvb.org with any additional Summer programming questions.

All Skills

Great for athletes with any level of volleyball experience! Our coaches teach the game in an energetic way to get your athlete excited about volleyball and ready for tryouts.

Summer Foundations

  • 3rd-6th grade
  • Weekly on Monday evenings in June and July.
  • 5:30-6:45pm
  • Led by Director of Youth Programming, Doug Keyser!
  • Foundations is all about FUNdamentals in the game of volleyball such as passing, setting, attacking and overhand serving.

Lil' Spikers Camp

  • 3rd-4th grade
  • Beginners
  • Monday-Thursday mornings June-August
  • Experienced Roots coaches and players teach your athlete volleyball fundamentals in a fun and engaging way!
  • Campers learn basic volleyball skills with an emphasis on correct technique.

All Skills Camp

  • 5th-10th grade
  • All levels
  • Monday-Thursday mornings June-August
  • This camp is focused on the fundamentals and player development.
  • Great for first-time players or players looking to brush up on their skills this summer.
  • Led by experienced Roots coaches and players.

Intermediate

These programs are for players with at least 2 seasons of school/1 season of club volleyball. Our training is fast-paced and fun, designed to get athletes ready for club volleyball.

Summer Skills Camps

  • 8th-12th grade
  • Afternoons in June and July
  • Focused on fast-paced, repetition-based training.
  • Camps are 3-4 days and focus on a different skill. Offerings include: Passing and Defense, Serve and Serve Receive, and Attacking and Blocking.

Position specific camps

  • 8th-12th grade
  • Intermediate/Advanced
  • June 6th, 7th and 9th 1:30-5:00pm
  • Coaches will focus on player development through highly technical instruction and a high volume of repetitions.
  • Each position camp is 3 days. Offerings include: Liberos, Pin Hitters, Middle Hitters, and Setters.

Middle School Pre-Tryout Camp

  •  6th-8th grade
  • Intermediate/Advanced
  • June 27th-30th 1:30-5:00pm
  • Train with Roots club coaches! We will cover drills and skills to get your athlete ready for upcoming club tryouts in July in a fast-paced, competitive, and fun environment.
  • 10:1 athlete/coach ratio to maximize feedback.

Advanced

These programs are for players with at least 2 seasons of school and club volleyball experience on a regional team or higher, and have a desire to play volleyball at the next level.

High School Pre-Tryout Camp

  •  9th-12th grade
  • Advanced
  • July 5th 9:00am-12:30pm OR 1:30-5:30pm
  • Get in the gym with Roots club coaches to get ready for tryouts!
  • Instruction will cover advanced skills for high school level players including serve receive, attacking, swing blocking, and jump serving.
  • Each session will finish with gameplay to give athletes the opportunity to put what they're learning into practice.
  • 10:1 athlete/coach ratio to maximize feedback.
Lindsay2

Elite Small Group lessons

  • 8th-12th grade
  • Advanced
  • Afternoons and evenings in June and July
  • Sessions include 4-6 players, are 1 hour and are led by Roots national team coaches.
  • Highly technical instruction, designed for advanced players who want to take their game to the next level.
  • Players wishing to participate will need to be evaluated or have approval from a Roots Volleyball director. More details on evaluation dates coming soon.

College Elite Camp

  • Class of 2023, 2024 and 2025
  • Wednesday, June 8th 9:00am-12:00pm or 1:30-4:30pm.
  • We are bringing the colleges to you! DI-DIII, NAIA, and NJCAA.
  • Players will sit down with all of the college coaches for a "Chalk Talk" on topics like, NCAA rules and eligibility, the importance of grades, and what coaches look for.
