Coach Bio

This season (2022-2023) Starla Vargas is the head coach for Roots Volleyball’s fifth 16s team – 16 Pecan.

Starla Vargas attended Concordia University for schooling and played in the Women’s Adult League as a DS. From 2008 – 2013 Starla began coaching with PARD winning Silver at the TAAF State Championship. This will be Coach Starla’s 6th year coaching club volleyball; she has coached 11s – 15s during her career. She has also had the privilege of leading and assisting for numerous developmental/academy camps.

Starla’s passion and dedication to coach players of all ages and skill levels begins with engaging the athlete to adopt a balance of technical instruction while empowering them to be individuals who believe before they achieve. She takes every opportunity to invest in each player on and off the court. Her ethics and coaching style exhibits sportsmanship, leadership, positive motivation, and a “team first” mentality while preparing athletes for next level play.

Last season (2021-2022) Starla served as the head coach for Roots Volleyball’s third 13s team – 13 Mesquite. This will be Starla’s 2nd season coaching with the Roots Volleyball family.
