Coach Bio

This season (2022-2023) Mallory Vargas is the assistant coach for Roots Volleyball’s fifth 16s team – 16 Pecan.

Mallory was born in Austin, and she attended Rouse High School and graduated with the class of 2017. She earned numerous awards for her high level of play including Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player, Academic All-District, and First Team All-District.

Mallory is a Roots Volleyball alumnus and continued her career collegiately at Blinn College (2017-2018). She was the 2018 Blinn Athletic Director Honor Roll recipient. She transferred to Texas State in 2019 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Economics. Mallory has earned a place on the Dean’s List every semester and plans to get her master’s degree in Business Management.

Last season (2021-2022) Mallory served as the assistant coach for Roots Volleyball’s third 13s team – 13 Mesquite. Previously, Mallory three club seasons including 15 Black for Roots Volleyball for the 2019-2020. This will be Mallory’s 3rd season coaching with the Roots Volleyball family.
