Coach Bio
This season (2024-2025) Malissa Keyser is the assistant for Roots Volleyball’s fifth 14s team – 14-5 Pecan and head coach for Roots Volleyball’s second 11s team – 11-2 Blue.
Last season (2023-2024) Malissa was the head coach for Roots Volleyball’s second 11s team – 11-2 Blue. Previously she coached multiple Mini Club seasons, as well as other Roots programs. She is also the Social Media Coordinator for Roots Volleyball.
Malissa was born in Austin and has lived here her whole life. She attended Round Rock High School. She started playing volleyball at 6 years old and played for ten years before moving on to being a coach. Throughout her time playing, Malissa was a setter for six season of club volleyball.
Since focusing on coaching, Malissa has coached multiple camps and programs in the Austin-area with her dad, Coach Doug Keyser. Malissa is the JV coach at Round Rock Christian Academy (2023-2024) after coaching their Middle School “A” team in 2022.
She lives in Cedar Park with her family (including her cat, Valentine) and attends the University of Texas at Austin. She is pursuing her bachelor’s in communication studies and is expected to graduate in December 2024. This is Malissa’s 2nd club season with the Roots Volleyball family.
