Coach Bio
This season (2024-2025) Makenzie Keyser is the assistant coach for Roots Volleyball’s second 11s team – 11-2 Blue.
Makenzie was born and raised in Austin. Her volleyball career started early. She began playing recreational volleyball at the age of 7, followed by four seasons of club volleyball and attended Round Rock High School (Class of 2017), where she played during her freshman year. Following her freshman year, she spent the remaining three years of high school playing competitive sand volleyball in the Austin-area. During and after her time as a volleyball player, she took on coaching roles for various teams and summer camps, learning from her dad, Roots Youth Programming Director and 14-1 Green head coach, Doug Keyser.
Makenzie graduated from Texas State University in 2021 with a degree in Education. After living in Central Arkansas for two years, where she taught first grade, she is now excited to be back in Cedar Park, where her family resides.
Last season (2023-2024) Makenzie Keyser is the assistant coach for Roots Volleyball’s second 11s team – 11-2 Blue.Currently, she works as an elementary teacher in Georgetown ISD. This is Makenzie’s 2nd season with the Roots Volleyball family.
