Coach Bio

This season (2023-2024) Lindsay Thompson is the head coach for Roots Volleyball’s top 17s team – 17-1 Green and she will continue serving as Roots Volleyball’s lead Recruiting Coordinator.

Lindsay’s 2022-2023 team (171 Green) is currently in the gym training to compete at USAV Girls’ Junior Nationals (USA division) in July. She led her team to a 3rd place finish at Countdown Classic, 3rd place finish at Tour of Texas Stop I and Stop II, 3rd place finish at President’s Day Classic (open division), 3rd place finish at Cross Court Classic, and a 3rd place finish at Big South National Qualifier (where they qualified for the national tournament).

For the 2021-2022 season Lindsay was the head coach for Roots Volleyball’s top 17s team – 17 Under Armour Green. She led her team to a 5th place finish at Far Western National Qualifier (USA) and qualified the following weekend for USAV Girls’ Junior Nationals at Lone Star Regionals (USA division). Lindsay led her team to a 5th place finish at USAV Girls’ Junior Nationals.

Lindsay Thompson will be returning for her 5th season as one of our dedicated Recruiting Coordinators. Lindsay is the lead Recruiting Coordinator onsite weekly with April Fricke while working in conjunction with our national Recruiting Coordinator (Lauren Hansen).

Lindsay returned (2021-2022) to head coaching after taking two seasons off to solely focus on recruiting for Roots Volleyball. Previously Lindsay coached 17 Under Armour (2017-2018), 16 Under Armour (2016-2017), and 15 Green (2015-2016). Each season her teams had a strong finish and medaled at numerous tournaments in the State of Texas. Prior to those teams, she coached a wide range of age groups, head coaching 15’s through 18’s national teams for five seasons. In addition to coaching club, she has assisted in running several high school summer camps throughout the Austin area, including Lake Travis, Elgin, Stony Point and Westwood High Schools. She also serves as a hitting and blocking clinic coach for Roots Volleyball.

Lindsay was a four-year starter at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, as well as a two-year team captain. She was a member of the 2009 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship team and was a four-time All-Region selection, four-time All-SCAC selection, three-time All-American Honorable Mention selection, SCAC Freshman of the Year, and Southwestern University Hall of Honor inductee. She currently holds records in seven categories at Southwestern University.

Lindsay graduated from Southwestern with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and currently works as the digital program manager for two non-profit organizations – Texas Hospital Association Foundation and Texas Healthcare Trustees. Lindsay is a Lake Travis High School and Southwestern University graduate. She is also a Roots Volleyball alumna. This season will be Lindsay’s 13th season as a member of the Roots Volleyball coaching staff.
