Coach Bio
Kam grew up in Laie, Hawaii and attended Kahuku High School. She played volleyball in high school as a setter and DS. She also played tennis, lettering in both sports, and graduated as Valedictorian. She played two years as a DS for BYU-Hawaii, earning a NAIA National title in 1994.
After that, she was ready to experience life beyond the islands and transferred to BYU Provo, got married, started a family, and graduated with a degree in Art Education. She loved being a stay-at-home mom and kept busy on the side with a photography business and selling art.
Kam has coached club volleyball in the Austin-area since 2017. Her teams consistently improve their rankings within each season. Throughout the years, she has led teams to several top 10 finishes at local tournaments such as CTPL, ATX Showcase, and United Challenge. Other successful finishes include narrowly missing a bid with 5th place at Colorado Crossroads National Qualifier.
As a coach, she strives to develop mature athletes who can balance giving their whole hearts on the court and being great teammates. She values strong fundamental techniques and aims to teach players to be smart, aggressive, and competitive. She loves being a coach and helping athletes learn skills that will help them on and off the court.
Kam is IMPACT, Safe Sport, and Gold Medal Squared certified. She lives in Cedar Park with her husband, Tui. They are figuring out their first year of empty nesting and enthusiastically taking any visits from their three daughters.
