This season (2020-2021) Julia Tobeck is the assistant coach for Roots Volleyball’s second 13s team – 13 Black.
Last season (2019-2020) Julia served as the assistant coach for 13 Black and the season before (2018-2019) Julia served as the head coach for 12 Black and assistant coach for 17 Black. The previous season (2017-2018) Julia Tobeck served as the assistant coach for 14 Black.
Julia was born and raised in the Lone Star State. She attended Leander High School and played for the Lady Lions. Julia was a member of the volleyball team all four years and started on varsity as a right side/setter her junior and senior seasons. She earned Academic All-District honors (2011 and 2012). She played for various clubs in the Austin-area and had her strongest career finish (3rd) at Lone Star Classic National Qualifier in the 16U division. Julia graduated from Leander High School in 2012.
Julia has worked with all ages. She led and assisted multiple summer clinics for TCA volleyball club for 1st-5th grade players. She has also assisted several spring clinics for Leander High School for 9th-12th grade players. Julia is currently finishing up classes at Austin Community College in pursuit of her degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Business Administration.
Julia’s coaching motto is, “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” She wishes to instill this mentality in all her players, so they know that there are no limits to what they can achieve.
Julia works for a pediatric dental office in Georgetown. She married her high school sweetheart and has two beautiful children. They are a big sports family and try to attend as many pro games as possible. In her spare time, Julia works out, plays recreational volleyball, enjoys live music, and tries to soak up the Austin atmosphere as much as possible.
This is Julia’s 5th season coaching with the Roots Volleyball family.
