Coach Bio
This season (2020-2021), Jonathan Stermer will be the head coach for Roots Volleyball’s second 11s team – 11 Mesquite.
Jonathan was born in Silver City, New Mexico and attended Mayfield High School in Las Cruces (1991 graduate). Jonathan played baseball and earned First Team All-State and North/South All-Star Team honors as a Centerfielder. He attended college at New Mexico State University and graduated in 1997 with a degree in Elementary Education.
Previously Jonathan was a high school baseball coach for 10 years. He coached for 8 years at Mayfield High School (4 years as the head coach) during the1997-2004 seasons. He also has 11 years coaching experience at Leander Middle School (2008-present) – soccer 6 years, track 4 years, and volleyball 6 years.
Jonathan currently resides in Leander with his wife, Rineldi of 23 years. They have 4 kids – Daimon, Devinn, Athena and Brooke. He currently is a coach and PE teacher at Leander Middle School. This will be Jonathan’s second season coaching with the Roots Volleyball family.
