This season (2020-2021) Anissa Lopez is the assistant coach for Roots Volleyball’s fifth 15s team – 15 Pink.
Anissa was born in Taylor, Texas and grew up in Hutto, Texas. She graduated in 1991 as Hutto High School’s Valedictorian. She was a multi-sport athlete playing volleyball, basketball, and track (shot put and discus). She earned a number of accolades across all three sports including Regional Qualifier in track – shot put (1989), Academic All-District in volleyball (1989), and Academic All-District in basketball (1989).
Anissa earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Park University (1996), a Master’s Degree in Special Education-Behavioral from Grand Canyon University, and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration/Principal Certification from Lamar University.
Anissa brings a wealth of coaching knowledge with her to the Roots Volleyball program. She has coached high school volleyball a number of years including serving as Hutto High School’s freshman “A” and “B” teams head volleyball coach and JV head softball coach (2012-2013); Taylor High School’s freshman and assistant varsity volleyball coach and assistant varsity soccer coach (2013-2018); Granger High School’s assistant varsity coach, JV volleyball head coach, assistant varsity basketball coach, and track head coach (2018-2019); and Granger High School’s head volleyball coach, JV basketball coach, and assistant track coach (2019-2020). Previously she coached 14U and 15U club volleyball teams for Texas Synergy and Knockout Volleyball.
Anissa is the head volleyball coach at Granger High School and teaches Health and Career Development. She was formally a Behavior Specialist. She resides in Jonah, a community outside of Hutto/Georgetown/Taylor area, on a little farm with farm animals. Anissa is married to Brandon Lopez and they have two children, Trace (sophomore at Tarleton State University) and Macey (junior at Granger High School). This will be her first season coaching with the Roots Volleyball family.
